Bridges 2021 Events

Every Bridges conference includes a number of events other than paper presentations. Although we cannot hold in-person events this year, we are still scheduling some live virtual get-togethers centred on various themes.

Mathematical Poetry

Held in gather.town, time to be announced

Coordinated by Sarah Glaz, Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Connecticut and poet, the poetry readings at Bridges feature poetry with strong links to mathematics and a wide range of poetic styles. A number of invited poets have recorded videos to create a virtual poetry reading. Please visit the poetry reading page at your leisure to enjoy their work.

The scheduled time above is your opportunity to meet with other mathematical poetry enthusiasts, discuss the poems, and perhaps contribute a reading of your own.

Short Film Festival

Held in gather.town, time to be announced

We are pleased to offer a juried collection of short films that explore mathematical themes. The films will be available online for you to watch at your leisure. You can then join us in a virtual gathering to discuss the films and meet some of the creators.

Dance, Movement Arts, and Mathematics

Held in gather.town, time to be announced

Join us for a social gathering of people interested in the movement arts and mathematics. We began this online meeting at Bridges 2020 and are an international group who have been meeting monthly since to discuss, network, and just become acquainted with those of us involved in building connections between dance, mathematics, embodied learning, and more.

Math + Fashion

Held in gather.town, time to be announced

A virtual get-together for the community interested in the intersection of mathematics and fashion, to be held in lieu of an in-person fashion show.

John Sharp Memorial

Held in gather.town, time to be announced

John Sharp was a close friend of the Bridges community, and one of the organizers of Bridges London in 2006. He worked with, influenced and inspired artists, researchers and hobbyists in many areas of art and mathematics. Join us to celebrate his life and legacy.
